Exposure

One of the basic principles at Betfair is that a customer is only allowed to risk funds that are available in their account. Exposure (also referred to as ‘current exposure’) represents the losses that could be incurred if all of a customer’s bets on markets that have not yet been settled lose—i.e., the worst-case scenario. Each time a customer places a bet, their exposure is adjusted accordingly. In doing so, Betfair ensures that a customer will always have enough funds to cover all their bets. Your Available to Bet Balance reflects the difference between your account balance and exposure.

Your current exposure is displayed on the Account Statement. You will notice that there is a figure for each of your wallets (UK and Australia). Click here for more information about wallets.

Exposure Limit

The maximum amount you can put at risk at any one time. This is in place as a protection measure, and can be changed by contacting the helpdesk.
